Would the cast of Resident Evil survive in the world of Left 4 Dead? What about vice versa?

Book Review: “Death Troopers” by Joe Schreiber

Zombies and Star Wars.  What more could anyone want?  In author Joe Schreiber’s latest novel Star Wars: Death Troopers, fans of both genres get with get to enjoy the undead and the Force.

The plot is simple: an Imperial prison ship encounters a derelict Destroyer and the away team discovers a deadly infection which kills and then revives, creating hundreds, thousands of zombies while several inmates, guards and a popular pair of smugglers try to survive.

Fans of Star Wars will enjoy this more than zombie fans.  While there are the undead in the book, the living dead presence is more of a backdrop threat rather than as forefront an enemy as most zombie-lovers are accustomed to.  Simply put, there could have been more zombie-ness.  Schreiber does do a great job of fleshing out the characters and staying true to the Star Wars galaxy.  There is suspense and there are moments of horror but overall, there needed to be more zombie.  The ending reason for the infection is well done but wraps itself up nicely, almost too nicely.

Star Wars: Death Troopers is a worthwhile read but will leave brain-eating fanboys a bit disappointed.  Hopefully in the future, we’ll get to see a Skywalker run face-to-rotting face with more Imperial zombies in a Death Troopers sequel.

The Top 5 Zombies of All Time (Video Games)

The Top 5 Zombies of All Time (Video Games) Hi all, being that we are all zombies, zombie-fighters or maybe a combination of both, there is a need crying out (or moaning out) to decide the top zombies; to determine which of the shambling (or mass crowd running) undead creatures stand out (or crawl out) from the rest.

The category of the day is:

The Top 5 Zombies of All Time (Video Games)

5. Stubbs - (Got his own game)

4. Zombie from Altered Beast - (Old-school but still look good)

3. Arthas (Warcraft - Undead and a jackass to boot)

2. The Chariot - (The House of the Dead)

And the number one Top Zombie of All Time (Video Games)

1. Zombie eating Kenneth Sullivan (Resident Evil 1  - creepy and awesome cutscene, sets the tone for it all)

What’s your vote?

My votes:

5. Tor Johnson (he helped start it all)

4. Zombie baby (Remake of Dawn of the Dead - freaky)

3. Bud (creepy but almost likable and star of Day of the Dead)

2. Karen Cooper (little dead girl in NotLD) (reminds us why the infected should not be let in with the survivors)

And the number one Top Zombie of All Time (Movies)

1. Tarman (because he epitomizes the brain-eating that has been tied to zombies since the 1980s and scared the crap out of me!)

So who are your top 5?
